Oh, don’t play the victim now, Ms Jiba

ANC cadres who get caught with their hands in the till, or in some wrongdoing, don’t apologise.

On the contrary, they portray themselves as victims. So it was with Nomgcobo Jiba, former deputy national director of public prosecutions, who was fired on Thursday night by President Cyril Ramaphosa, along with her colleague Lawrence Mrwebi, who was the director of special prosecutions in the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

The two were part of the team who defended former president Jacob Zuma by derailing or deflecting prosecutions or inquiries relating to people close to him and to state capture.

They, along with former NPA head Shaun Abrahams, were responsible for destroying the effectiveness of that organisation.

It was not surprising to hear Jiba claiming to be the one suffering. She wrote to Ramaphosa: “My removal from office would cause undue harm to my family.

“With the high unemployment rate in the country, I do not want to be made part of that by your government.”

Perhaps, Ms Jiba, you should have thought of your family before you chose to embark on your path of dishonesty.

Perhaps you should have thought about those others facing unemployment because the state capture evil stole their jobs and their future.
