May the force be with you in the dark

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away – known as Hollywood – there was the Big Bang, from which all nerd matter flowed… and that Universe is still expanding at the speed of light, it seems.

Today, on Star Wars Day, May the Fourth (May the Force) be with You. And, as Yoda might have put it: Star Wars Day it is. Celebrate you must.

It is difficult to believe that 46 years ago, film-maker George Lucas’ fantastic brainchild would turn out to be one of the most successful entertainment franchises in the history of our planet.

Depending on which Star Wars anorak you believe, there are as many as 20 films, from the originals, to spin-offs, to related TV series, with the latest production of The Mandalorian being enough to have the cognoscenti reaching for their light sabres as they duel over whether it is true to the spirit of the original.

Some even consider the wisdom of the movies a sensible alternative to religion, while some of the quotes have been used in all manner of places.
