It would be folly to write off Zuma
Every time an analyst or journalist has predicted his demise, Zuma has bounced back – stronger than ever.

There is a lot of talk at the moment about President Jacob Zuma, the Guptas and their accomplices being on the back foot.
Some have even gone as far as predicting that Zuma’s days are numbered.
It is true that the “Zupta” axis has suffered a number of setbacks of late; from the ouster of Eskom’s Brian Molefe to the suspension of Gupta confidant Anoj Singh from the same parastatal; and the suspension of Gupta-linked accounts by the Indian Bank of Baroda.
There is, reportedly, a growing groundswell of support for Cyril Ramaphosa as Zuma’s logical replacement as ANC, and national, president.
And, more ANC members are becoming outspoken in their wish to see Zuma step down. Yet, we must never forget that Zuma is the proverbial cockroach of politicians – the only thing that will supposedly remain alive after a nuclear holocaust.
He knows the double-whammy power of patronage coupled with intimidation and still undoubtedly has significant support among the masses in the rural areas.
Every time a clever analyst or journalist has predicted his demise, “JZ” has bounced back – stronger than ever.
There is a lot at stake – literally billions of rands – and we don’t think Zuma is preparing his end game.
