Ignore party affiliation and skin colour, get the right person

Madiba’s granddaughter, Ndileka Mandela, said: 'We are tired of people being appointed in positions and not doing anything in those positions.'

There are many people who are disillusioned with the way the ANC has been churning out empty slogans and promises while steadily running down the country – but when one of the critics is a Mandela, you sit up and take notice.

Madiba’s granddaughter, Ndileka Mandela, said: “We are tired of people being appointed in positions and not doing anything in those positions. As granddad (Mandela) said: ‘It doesn’t matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it can catch mice.’ We don’t care whether it’s white or black or whatever colour person in that position – as long as they can deliver and we can have service delivery.”

Her frustration came out of the fact that her own small business, along with many others, is being brought to its knees by stage 6 load shedding.

She also posted on Facebook a piece written by a friend in which he marvelled at the work being done in uMgeni (Howick) by the DA mayor of the town, Chris Pappas.

These are the frank conversations we need to start having, uncomfortable though they may be for the ANC, the party of cadre deployment. Get the right person for the job. Ignore party affiliation and skin colour.
