The deceased child has been identified as 13-year-old Gideon Miller, who was pinned down under the bus. He was declared dead at the scene.
The scene was cordoned off yesterday to allow for paramedics to stabilise other injured children. They had to act fast amid fears that the bus would slide further down an embankment it was resting on.
Gideon was head boy at Steelpoort Academy primary school.
