Cash-in-transit heist suspect killed during shootout with police

A quick response by task team members and police after 10 armed suspects robbing a cash-in transit vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money on Tuesday afternoon got one suspect dead in Limpopo, Review Online reports.

“According to information, the four of these suspects were immediately arrested after police cornered the 10 suspects who had just committed the robbery.

“The other suspects fled in the direction of GaMasemola, the police gave chase where a shootout ensued at Apel Cross. One suspect was fatally wounded during the shootout and three more were arrested. The last three suspects managed to flee the scene,” said Captain Mamphaswa Seabi.

Bags recovered

Four vehicles, three firearms and money were recovered on the scene, confirmed Seabi.

The police appeal to anyone with information that can help with this police investigation to contact their nearest police station, or the 24-hour toll free number at 0860010111.

Provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Nneke Ledwaba commended all members who were involved in the operation for their quick response in apprehending the suspects.
