An Australian man enjoying a braai with some mates in his backyard almost burnt to death after a terrifying error of judgment over his use of igniters.
The fire was already burning strongly when he decided he wanted even bigger flames, and added a further bucket of firelighters.

As he threw the firelighters on the fire, giant flames immediately exploded from the fire pit, engulfing and almost incinerating him.
Although he had to receive emergency medical attention for burns, miraculously the man survived and is recovering in hospital.
