Reaction to news that Zimababwe’s ruling Zanu-PF party on Sunday expelled President Robert Mugabe as its leader has been pouring in thick and fast on Twitter.
According to reports, Mugabe was replaced by Emmerson Mnangagwa, his vice-president he sacked two weeks ago. Zanu-PF also fired Mugabe’s wife Grace, and two cabinet ministers Jonathan Moyo and Saviour Kasukuwere.
While some tweeps were pleased to hear of the 93-year-old leader’s departure from power after 37 years, some were skeptical and wanted to know why it had taken Zanu-PF so long to remove Mugabe, and what Zimbabwe’s future would look like should he vacate office.
