An elderly woman has been rescued after she became stuck in her bath for three days.
Officers forced entry into the pensioner’s home in Essex, in the UK, after hearing a cry for help.
The unnamed woman in her 80s was taken to hospital after she told them she had been trapped in the tub for up to three days.
Her neighbour raised concerns after noticing the woman was not answering her door for post and still had her curtains closed at about 2:00 p.m. last Wednesday.
A police officer said she had no family or friends nearby.
On Sunday police constable Tom Mathews of Essex Police said: “When we found the woman she told us that she’d been trapped in the bath for up to three days. The woman sadly had no nearby family or friends that [are] able to make regular visits to check on her.”
“This incident is an example on why it’s essential to check on your elderly and vulnerable neighbours. When we arrived we could tell that something was wrong, and we had no option but to force entry to the property in order to help the woman who was quickly assessed and taken to hospital.”
“In this case a neighbor spotted a few minor things that were out of character and she rightly called for help. We would like to praise her for taking the time to consider the welfare of an elderly person within her community.”
