Soweto Animal Rescue and Advisory Centre (SARAC) has praised a woman who saved a dog from young boys who were pelting it with stones.
SARAC is an organisation based in Westonaria, in Gauteng, and run by animal behaviourists with the aim of creating a compassionate “link between animals and human by advising and educating the community of Soweto”, according to their Facebook page.
The organisation alleged that the boys who were pelting the dog with stones were doing so with “intent to kill it”.
A women, who the organisation on Facebook only identified as Nomqibelo, was commended by SARAC for “having a heart of gold”.
“Nomqibelo immediately put her life in line to protect the poor animal, even though she has a phobia of dogs, but that didn’t deter her from saving him, she ended up putting the poor dog in her warm hands,” posted Soweto Animal Rescue on Facebook.
“She then drove all the way to SARAC, knowing that the dog will get the best medical care and rehabilitated as well.”
It is unclear when the incident took place, but the post was uploaded to the SARAC Faceboook page on January 15. The post is receiving a lot of attention, with about 1 200 social media users reacting to it and more than 180 shares.
Many social media users further extended their thanks and congratulations to Nomqibelo. Read some of the comments posted on social media here:
The organisation further called on other community members to support their work.
