Man killed during house robbery

A man was shot and killed during an attempted house robbery in Faerie Glen on Thursday, Pretoria East Rekord reports.
Police spokesperson Captain Ilse Jones said the homeowner’s wife screamed for help when she saw four men had gained entrance to their home at about 8.30pm.
“Her husband came running down the stairs to assist,” she said.
“Following a confrontation between him and the suspects, the owner was shot in the upper and lower body.”

Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said when paramedics arrived on scene, they found the man lying in his yard.
“Paramedics worked tirelessly to resuscitate the man, but he was declared dead on the scene,” she said.
Jones said the robbers escaped, and nothing was stolen.
“A murder docket has been opened for investigation,” said Jones.
