Dagga plants found growing at a house in Ekurhuleni

The suspect will face charges of cultivating dagga.


A 31-year-old Van Riebeeck Park resident in East Rand was arrested on Monday morning at 8am for allegedly cultivating dagga at his house on Langeberg Street, Kempton Express reports.

Captain Lesibane Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park police, said they received a tip-off from the public.

“Members responded to the complaint and arrested a male suspect for manufacturing and cultivation of dagga with an estimated value of R1 000.”

The suspect will face charges of manufacturing and planting dagga, in Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court.

Also, Norkem Park police, with the help of other law-enforcement agencies, made seven arrests at the weekend.

The arrests were effected during stop and searches and tracing of wanted suspects.

“The arrested suspects are facing charges ranging from possession of dagga, assault under domestic violence, car theft and hijacking and one suspect for manufacturing and cultivating of dagga,” Molokomme said.
