KZN hijacking caught on camera

The video has received thousands of views since it was published on Monday and has sparked debate and anger among social media users.


A video of the hijacking of a white VW Golf in New Germany, Pinetown, in KwaZulu-Natal, which took place on Monday is doing the rounds on social media.

The video has been shared by numerous social media crime watch groups. SA Crime Watch encouraged users to share the post and the video post shared on the eblockwatch Facebook page, stating, “Happens quicker than you can blink.”

The video has already received thousands of views since it was published on Monday and has sparked much debate and anger among social media users.

Here are some of the comments posted on the Police pics and clips Facebook page, including one from a social media user who said he is a neighbourhood patroller in New Germany and responded to two hijackings on Sunday evening in the area:

The SA Police Service advises on its website that in the case you are caught in a hijacking or hostage situation, you should do everything the perpetrators tell you, try to remain calm and don’t offer any form of resistance.
