Two held in NWest for possession of nyaope worth R125 000

Two men have been arrested for possession of nyaope with an estimated street value of R125 000, North West police said on Sunday.

The men, aged 49 and 36, were arrested by Phokeng K9 unit officers late on Friday evening after police received a tip-off, Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said.

“The suspects’ vehicle with two occupants was spotted and stopped for a search. During the search, drugs [nyaope] wrapped in 20 small colourless plastic balls with [an] estimated street value of R125 000 weighing 555g were found and seized.”

Further investigations revealed that one of the men had a pending case against him for dealing in drugs in Phokeng, after he was arrested in December 2016. They were expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, she said.
