WATCH: Thieves take 40 seconds to steal handbag from car
Community warned again to not leave any valuables in plain sight.
After an incident at a primary school in Roodekrans on the morning of 17 April, another warning was sent out about leaving valuables in plain sight inside your vehicle, reports Roodepoort Record.
CCTV footage of the incident shows how a suspect walks around the parked vehicle, looking in at the windows. He then gains access into the vehicle by removing the side window and leans in. Having found what he wanted, he quickly retrieves it and jumps into the waiting vehicle, and his accomplice speeds off. It only took them 40 seconds to achieve this.
The victim of the crime confirmed this incident and said: “I dropped off my children at school after a dental appointment, and had to accompany them into the school to sign them in. I knew I would only be a few minutes, and did not think to take my handbag from the front seat. When I got back to the vehicle, I was shocked to see that it had been broken into and my handbag had been stolen.”
