Five suspects arrested during attempted Waterfall land invasion

About 2 000 people attempted to invade land in Waterfall, Midrand, on Friday, 24 March.


Police have confirmed that five suspects were arrested in Waterfall, Midrand on Friday, 24 March, in an attempted land invasion incident.

Metro police were on standby on Saturday, 25 March, as it is believed that people were ‘registering’ for land in Marlboro and subsequently making their way to choose a piece of open land in Waterfall, reports Midrand Reporter.

On Friday, police spokesperson Captain Meyer said about 2 000 people gathered at a piece of land in Waterfall around 11am and attempted to invade it.

Police arrested five people for malicious damage to property.

Five people were arrested and charged with malicious damage to property.

The Midrand Reporter understands that the attempted land invaders broke down the fence to the private property and attempted to build shacks.
