Body of Mpumalanga man found in car in Bethal Dam

The police say they received a complaint at about 7.15am about a vehicle that had sunk into Bethal Dam.


The body of a Bethal resident was found inside his vehicle in the Bethal Dam this morning, 10 May, reports Ridge Times.

Andries Lee’s Delta 1 Rescue Diving and police divers recovered the body of the 49-year-old man. The partially submerged vehicle was recovered by Gerdouw Briel from All City Towing.

Constable Thomas Mogadime, spokesman for Bethal Police, was on the scene. He said the police received a complaint at about 7.15am about a vehicle that sank into Bethal Dam.

“The police attended the incident and on arrival they found a silver vehicle in the dam, and all role players were summoned to the scene.

“Members from the Secunda Diving Unit managed to get into the dam and found a white man in the vehicle still in the water.”

Mogadime said the man was certified dead by the paramedic from Langamed South Ambulance Services.
