Ekurhuleni taxi owner killed

A Zonkizizwe Taxi Association (Zota) taxi owner was killed in Thokoza Zone One on March 23.


Ekurhuleni police spokesperson Captain Mvelase confirmed the news to Kathorus Mail.

“It is alleged that a 71-year-old man was driving his silver Toyota Cressida with registration number JYC 399 GP in Zone One at Zonkizizwe. Unknown suspects driving a white Mercedes Benz – registration number unknown – blocked him in front. One of the suspects inside the Mercedes Benz fired some shots. The deceased, Mkhombiseni Ndwandwe (71), was hit in the forehead,” said Mvelase.

The suspects fled the scene.

Mvelase further stated that nothing was taken from the deceased.

She added that police suspect the motive for the killing is related to taxi violence.

Mvelase pleaded with community members who might know the whereabouts of the suspects, to inform the police in Zonkizizwe on these numbers: 0119035 712/08600 10 111.

Investigations are currently under way.
