Sassa card hoax alert

Sassa is not changing its payment card, it said.

South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) spokesperson Nadipha Mosia has confirmed to the Comaro Chronicle that there is a hoax message doing the rounds about a change in Sassa’s payment card.

The message reads: “For any family and friends receiving a grant from Sassa, please note that monies for Sassa (white card) last payment will go into account on 1 March. Thereafter the card expires.

“Ensure you go to your nearest Sassa or Easypay office before end March to obtain forms to transfer your monies into your bank account i.e. Standard/FNB/Absa/Nedbank (these forms must be completed at your Sassa local office) this is to ensure your details have been updated should new systems be in place. The new card will be enforced as at April 1.”

Mosia said: “This is a hoax as Sassa is not changing its payment card.”
