The department of public works will hand out bursaries to thirty 2017 matriculants interested in studying in the construction industry on Friday morning, Centurion Rekord reports.
This is the department’s fifth annual bursary awards ceremony and will be held at the Saint George’s Hotel in Centurion.
The bursaries are part of the department’s mandate to transform the building industry and invest in young people who want careers in this industry.
Public Works Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko will award bursaries worth R130 000 per recipient per year to matriculated learners; mostly from rural, township and disadvantaged schools throughout the country.

The event is said to recognise artisans and professionals who participated in the Artisan Development Programme and the Young Professional Programme.
