Tornado blows off 66 roofs in three sections in Tembisa

No fatalities were recorded, but one girl was critically injured.


Ekurhuleni MMC for community safety Vivian Chauke visited three sections in Tembisa on Wednesday where a tornado blew off the roofs of 66 houses on Tuesday afternoon, Kempton Express reports.

In Mcansa Section 42 roofs were blown off, in Emangweni Section eight and in ILiliba Section 16 houses.

No fatalities were reported but one girl was critically injured when a wall she was hiding next to got blown over and fell on her.

The municipality is continuing to assess the situation to see if there is further damage and determining the cost of the damage.

Chauke visited different houses and presented food parcels from Gift of the Givers to those affected.
