On the morning of December 7, the metro police stormed the address in question and raided the house.

Officers found 108 complete tablets of mandrax and 269 half tablets of mandrax valued at about R22 090 in one of the rooms. A woman aged 27 years was arrested in connection with the discovery of the drugs.

The 27-year-old woman arrested in connection with these drugs seized from her house.

In addition to the mandrax, 70 ziplock bags of the drug CAT and two large rocks of CAT valued at about R50 000 were found at the same property.

Investigations led metro officers to an outside room, still in the same yard, where they seized more than 313 small packets of dagga valued at R3 130.

A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with the illicit substances discovered in the outside room.

The pair were taken to the Reiger Park Police Station, where they were charged with possession of and dealing in drugs.

They were scheduled to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court soon.

Both Reiger Park police and community members described drug peddling in the area as the main contributing factor to violence, criminal gangs and suffering in the township.

Police regularly seize drugs and arrest those said to be behind this illegal trade, but the problem of drugs still persist in the area. Other dealers were recently arrested and accused of selling their dangerous substance to primary school children.
