WATCH: Evacuations after bomb scare near Sandton Gautrain station

Police, metro and the fire department are on the scene of an apparent bomb scare.


Hundreds of people have been seen leaving their businesses and walking down Rivonia Road following an alleged bomb scare in Sandton, Sandton Chronicle reports.

There is a heavy police presence including police vans, the bomb squad and fire trucks.

An Alexander Forbes employee who wished to remain anonymous said: “We were told by our safety officer to evacuate the building. We were told to walk up Rivonia Road and make our way down 5th to a safety point.”

Earlier, Gautrain users were unable to access the entrance, and Rivonia Road was closed, but has since reopened.
