Nongovernmental organisation Gauteng Men’s Forum has called on Arthur Mafokate to publicly apologise for allegedly assaulting his musician girlfriend, Busisiwe Twala, also known as Cici.
“You need men to stand up and say this is wrong, it must stop, that will send a message that if you’ve got any problems in any situation violence is not a solution. And if a man like Arthur stands up, and says so, and apologises, it will go a long way in shaping the nature of relationships between men and women in the country,” said Men’s Forum spokesperson Bongani Ngomane.
On the contrary, EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi thinks he should pay the price for what he did.
The kwaito star and music producer was arrested on charges of assault after allegedly beating up Cici.
Sunday World reported Mafokate dragged Cici into the street with his car during an argument.
According to the police statement, Mafokate received a phone call from another woman while they were in the bedroom on Thursday night. The argument started when Mafokate chose to answer the call outside.
Cici said Mafokate refused to disclose who was on the other end of the phone. She said she tried to grab the phone from him, and that was when Mafokate started arguing with her.
