Nasrec aircraft crash: 3 training flight occupants confirmed dead
The aircraft departed from Grand Central Airport in Gauteng on a training flight.

Three people were killed on Sunday morning when a light aircraft crashed near the FNB Stadium in, Nasrec, Gauteng.
The Accident was reported by the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC).

Emergency services responded to the scene, along with the South African Police Service (Saps) and Civil Aviation Authorities.
SACAA’s Accident and Incident Investigations Division (AIID) is investigating the matter. A preliminary report will be issued within 30 days.
Two passengers dead
Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen confirmed three – the pilot and two occupants – had died.
“Emer-G-Med paramedics together with multiple emergency service agencies are currently in attendance of a light aircraft crash […] Sadly three people have lost their lives”.
Speaking from the scene, Van Reenen said he was not in a position to comment on the details relating to the crash as it will be included in the report.
“We were told initially there were more than three occupants on board the aircraft. … On arrival on the scene, the plane was found in ruins and three occupants were declared dead on arrival.”
He added: “Three people were initially found with sustained fatal injuries and declared dead on arrival by paramedics”.
No other damanges
Van Reenen said the plane crashed near the Nasrec mine dump.
“In terms of that, there were no other housing and infrastructure in the area where the aircraft went down. It didn’t strike any housing or people”.
Meanwhile, SACAA said the aircraft “departed from Grand Central Airport in Gauteng on a training flight with the intention to land back at the same airport”.
