Municipality pulls ‘a Nsfas’, accidentally deposits R10.6m into company account

When the municipality approached the company, they found out they had spent all the money.


The owners of Geomab construction appeared in Siyabuswa Mdutjana Regional Court for accidentally receiving R10.6 million from Dr JS Moroka Municipality in Mpumalanga, Mpumalanga News reports.

“Mr George Shadrack Mabaso and Ms Maria Isabel Mabusa were supposed to receive R1.6 million although they received R 10.6 million in their business account on November 2016,” said the Hawks spokesperson in Mpumalanga, Dineo Sekgotodi.

“This is after they rendered a service to the municipality.”

“When the municipality approached them they found out that they spent all the money. They were arrested on September 5, 2017 by Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Mpumalanga,” Sekgotodi said.

The couple was granted R 10 000 bail each.

“The case was postponed to November 9 for consultation with the new attorney,” she said.
