Mentally disturbed man causes commotion at railway station

An allegedly mentally disturbed man caused a commotion at Witpoortjie Railway Station on the West Rand when he persistently ran across the road, potentially endangering his own life as well as that of motorists, Roodepoort Record reports.

The man was also allegedly damaging parked vehicles at the shopping centre across the road.

A Dowry reaction officer tackled the man and bystanders helped to cuff him before paramedics from ER24 took him to hospital.  A Life Flora Hospital vehicle was also on the scene.

The incident brought the traffic to a standstill for a short while.
