The ANC’s election head appears to be rattled by former Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) CEO Mzwanele Manyi’s tweet that he contradicted himself during his testimony at the Zondo commission of inquiry into state capture last week.
Manyi highlighted that Mbalula, during his testimony, was reminded of inconsistencies by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, who told Mbalula it was imperative for him to get to the bottom of a single fact.
Zondo said: “In certain respects, as I have indicated, there does appear to be areas where what you said before here seems in conflict with what you said today here, and it is my duty at the end to make findings of exactly what happened – and its important that we have clarifications, if there are clarifications. So I just wanted to make sure that you’re free [and] you’re happy to deal with questions.”
During his testimony before the commission in Parktown on Friday, Mbalula made it clear that it was never his intention to undermine commission proceedings and that he was certain of what he was saying.
This was an opportune moment for Manyi, who relished the idea of Mbalula stating two different stories – which means he could be charged for perjury.

Mbalula quickly clapped back at Manyi, denying the claims and calling him a dog on Twitter.
