A man putting up a fence at a Hluhluwe ranch in KwaZulu-Natal had his hand chopped off with a panga when he was attacked by four assailants.
According to a police report, the man tried to flee when confronted by three men and a woman, but he was pulled out of his vehicle and overpowered, Zululand Observer reported.
During the scuffle the suspects attempted to take his firearm, but when they failed to do so, they chopped his hand off.
Taking the victim’s firearm with them, the attackers fled on foot.
The wounded man managed to alert nearby members of the community, who rushed him to the hospital.
It is believed the motive behind the attack might have been the community’s dissatisfaction for not being employed for erecting the fence.
