A 49-year-old businessman was shot and killed outside Standard Bank in Prospecton Road, Isipingo in KwaZulu-Natal.
According to a police report, at about 11:57am on Monday, the victim was leaving the bank after withdrawing R45k at Standard Bank, when he was shot by five unknown men, armed with AK47’s, Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.
The man was shot in his abdomen and robbed of all his money. The suspects then fled the scene in a Grey Blazer. Netcare 911 paramedics were joined by medics from other services. They worked tirelessly to attempt a resuscitation on the man.
Tragically, despite all their efforts to save the man’s life, he was pronounced dead at the scene, police spokesperson Captain David Ravagan said a case of armed robbery and murder has been opened.
“The case is currently being investigated by Isipingo detectives and suspects are still unknown. We will not rest until those perpetrators are behind bars and we are appealing to any witnesses who were at the scene to come forth and help us with the investigation,” said Ravagan.
