Man launches petition to sell the Northern Cape to raise funds for Eskom debt
And it seems he's not the only one who has had this idea.

A man by the name of Adrian Van Niekerk has launched a petition in an effort to convince President Cyril Ramaphosa to sell the Northern Cape to Namibia for R420 million.
His motivation?
“Eskom has too much debt, taxpayers are tired of paying.”
His reasoning?
“Nobody lives in the Northern Cape. I don’t know, tell the Namibians it has a desert and a big hole or something.”
At the time of writing, the petition only had 35 signatures and Van Niekerk is only aiming for a total of 100 signatures.
Those who have seen the petition took to social media to share their thoughts.
Namibia, let's actually think about it seriously. Do we WANT the Northern Cape?? 🤔🤔

And it seems Van Niekerk’s idea is a sentiment shared by many.

Northern Cape is an unneccesary expense to the government. All their municipalities are broke, Eskom is just giving them free electricity.
The whole province is a waste of space..GIVE IT TO NAMIBIA and let them be boring together.
