Man dies while escaping heavy storm in Ruimsig

The body was found buried underneath a concrete palisade fencing.


A lifeless body of man was discovered in a veld in Ruimsig, on the West Rand, following a heavy hailstorm late afternoon yesterday, 9 October, Roodepoort Northsider reports.

The body was discovered by a BCI Security personnel, Johan Pretorius, who was making rounds in the area.

He said: “l saw the gruesome body of the man near Hole in One Avenue near the Ruimsig squatter camp.”

He speculated the man must’ve been running away from the storm and got injured and killed by a concrete palisade fencing, which he was found buried underneath.

Pretorius said when he got to the scene and contacted the police and ambulance services. He added that a brother to the deceased was able to identify the body before being taken away by a mortuary vehicle.
