Actonville police spokesperson Captain Pheello Mothapo in Ekurhuleni said: “It is alleged that a woman (31) was doing chores when a man suddenly entered her house and threatened her with a firearm.”
“The man allegedly forced himself on the victim and stole some items from the house and the woman managed to scream for help while the suspect was leaving the house,” said Mothapo.
Mothapo added that when the neighbours came out to help, the suspect was in the process of fleeing the scene and they followed him until he entered another house, Benoni City Times reports.

Residents called the police who found the man at the house he had run to, changing his clothes with the intention to hide his clothing description.
Police seized two unlicensed firearms, ammunition and the stolen items from the house.
He was charged and detained at Actonville Police Station.
Mothapo applauded the residents for assisting them to apprehend the suspect and for not taking the law into their own hands.
