ANC head of elections Fikile Mbalula was involved in a mini-twar with sports personality Robert Marawa and Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema on Saturday.
Mbalula went sour after Marawa shared a video of a chopper with an EFF banner hanging from it as it flew over the FNB Stadium where the Soweto giants faced each other in a match that ended in a draw, as it often does.
“Air traffic controllers will await the arrival of the other parties. Derby vibe and elections,” wrote Marawa.
An unimpressed Mbalula responded to Marawa and accused him of promoting the EFF, an accusation Marawa denied, saying he was promoting everything about the game, including the chopper that flew over the stadium.
“Promoting? I’m promoting everything that’s happening at this football stadium … from Chiefs to Pirates to fans to grasshoppers! Wena you’re promoting ignorance manje,” said Marawa.
Mbalula told Marawa that though there was nothing wrong with being an EFF member, “abusing” his position was wrong.
Marawa responded: “While you continue howling with your sponsored data … let me ask you a question … Why don’t you make a noise when I praise intelligent, progressive leaders like @Lesufi and @ButiManamela as well? If attention seeking was an Olympic sport, you’d win GOLD! #HlalaPhansi.”
Malema then jumped in on the conversation and told Mbalula to stop embarrassing himself.
Since Mbalula was not backing off, Marawa referred him to an anger management facility in Sandton and also offered him baby bottles to suck on if the anger management programme didn’t work.
