Did tonight’s R75m Lotto jackpots create a new South African millionaire?

Tonight’s combined Lotto jackpots added up to an estimated R75 million – R44 million in the main draw, R18 million in the Lotto Plus draw, and R13 million in Plus 2.

Ithuba published the winning numbers already and now the question remains: Have any of those jackpots been nabbed?

Lotto jackpot: Hit or miss?

It appears that Lady Luck was a bit shy tonight, as no one claimed the Lotto and Lotto Plus jackpots in Saturday’s draw.

That said, one lucky player matched five numbers with the bonus ball for a payout of R189 475, while 33 players matched five numbers (without the bonus ball) and won R3 827.

But don’t despair! This means that the jackpot will roll over, growing even bigger for the next draw… You have another shot at becoming a millionaire.

Even higher stakes now

The three jackpots rolled over to R48 million for the main draw, R20 million for Plus 1 and R15 million for Plus 2.

Chances of winning the lotto

While the prospect of winning a massive Lotto jackpot is thrilling, it’s important to remember that the odds of winning are slim. But like, really slim…

The chances of winning the Lotto jackpot are roughly 1 in 14 million, while the odds of winning the Lotto Plus jackpot are 1 in 24 million.

To put that into perspective, you’re more likely to be struck by lightning, which has a 1 in 1.2 million chance of happening than to win the jackpot!

However, despite these astronomical odds, the excitement and anticipation of the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws keep South Africans coming back for more.

After all, the age-old saying rings true: you have to be in it to win it!
