Look out for these fake police vehicles

Police are urging motorists not to stop for these vehicles.

Roodepoort Police Station commander Brigadier Sam Manala has issued an urgent warning regarding suspects using fake police vehicles and impersonating officers of both SAPS and JMPD, Roodepoort Record reports.

In a statement written on behalf of Malana, spokesperson Nonhlanhla Khumalo said: “It is alleged that the following vehicles are involved in committing different types of crime such as house robbery, car hijacking and common robbery around Honeydew, Randburg, Linden and Roodepoort.”

“A white BMW using blue police lights, a silver BMW with occupants impersonating JMPD officers, a white Toyota Corolla, a blue 1400 Nissan bakkie and a white Golf 7 are all using blue lights. The registration numbers of these vehicles are unknown at this stage. None of the above-mentioned vehicles are police vehicles, but the occupants are pretending to be police and metro police officers in order to rob their victims,” said Khumalo.

“We encourage the community to call the police when they notice any of these suspicious vehicles. They should also not stop but preferably drive to the nearest police station,” she concluded.
