Durban North snake man, Jason Arnold, has warned residents of Newsel Road in uMdloti to be on the lookout for venomous and non-venomous snakes on the move in the next couple of the days due to ongoing development, Northglen News reports.
Arnold rescued a large green mamba from one of the homes on Tuesday afternoon,
“This particular section of uMdloti [Newsel Road] and surrounds are going to get an influx of snake activity over the next few days due to the clearing and development starting up in the bush/sugarcane areas behind them. These poor creatures have so little area left,” Arnold said.

“Snake activity patterns change dramatically over the course of a year. Throughout the cool months, snakes are relatively inactive but they try and eat as much as they can before winter. Mambas [green and black], however, breed in winter, and I get a lot of call-outs for them around now for the mating season, however, with the development there is bound to more snakes on the move,” he said.
