The deceased was found by his son with stab wounds.

A 67-year-old Shallcross businessman in KwaZulu-Natal was stabbed to death at his home, allegedly by his gardener.

Well-known building contractor Manogaran Govender, fondly known as Nick, lived alone and was found lying in a pool of blood by his son, at about 10.30am on Saturday, Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.

A swift investigation conducted by Chatsworth police led to the arrest of the first suspect, a 19-year-old man, within hours of the murder. The second suspect, a 23-year-old man, was arrested on Sunday.

Chatsworth police spokesperson Captain Cheryl Pillay said: “The deceased was found with stab wounds and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. It is alleged that the suspect was employed as a gardener by the victim.”

“Both accused will appear in the Chatsworth Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder soon.”

Govender was described by his four children as a person with a fountain of wisdom, and a friend to all he had met.
