DA MP and chief whip John Steenhuisen got a little more than he bargained for after trying to clap back at Cape Town comedian Lindy Johnson on Twitter this weekend.
It all began when Johnson made a comment on an eNCA insert about a new law that could affect South Africans who lie about their qualifications on their CVs.
“White people with just matric certificates are shaking rn,” tweeted Johnson.
A Twitter user, identified only as @psyQologist tried to rebut Johnson’s point by bringing up former president Jacob Zuma’s lack of a formal qualification, to which she responded “my point is keep the same energy with the pilot who flew for 20 years without a license, putting millions of people in danger? Or John Steenhuissen [sic]. Those are just the ones we KNOW of and they had access to the best education this country had to offer.”
Upon the mention of his name, Steenhuisen sprang into action to defend himself but chose to do so by critiquing Johnson’s skills as a comedian.
Twitter users were quick to come to Johnson’s defence, including Chester Missing.
Johnson, however, used the opportunity to call Steenhuisen out for his party’s governance of the province that she calls home and their beef continued.
Johnson is one of the select few comedians handpicked by Trevor Noah for Trevor Noah Presents NationWild, which is currently available on Showmax.
According to Glamour Magazine, after just two years as a comedian, she has previously been nominated as Best Newcomer at the Comics’ Choice Awards and she has won the Savanna ‘Show Us Your Apples’ Open Mic 2017 showdown.
