A Monday morning jog on Tinley Manor Beach in Durban turned into a fight for survival after a 30-year-old man was attacked and mauled by two pit bulls.
The man was on the main swimming beach when he was attacked and suffered severe injuries to both his arms and legs, North Coast Courier reported.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Janus van Schalkwyk, the man was confronted by the dogs and tried to fend them off.
The owner then noticed what was happening and managed to pull the dogs from the defenseless jogger.
By the time emergency services arrived, bystanders had tried to cover his gaping wounds.
He was stabilised and taken to hospital for further treatment.
This is the second dog attack on the Dolphin Coast reported within a week.
