Intruder stabs homeowner with kitchen knife

A Northdene resident was stabbed by an intruder who broke into his home in Durban.

The operations manager for Blue Security, Brian Jackson, said an armed response officer responded to the scene of the stabbing when the victim’s wife pressed a panic button at around 5.50am on Saturday, Highway Mail reported.

“The resident was in the kitchen of his home in Reed Place when he suddenly noticed a man standing behind him. A fight broke out, and the intruder stabbed him in the abdomen with a kitchen knife,” he said.

“The resident’s wife was still asleep but awoke to her husband’s screams for help and sounded the alarm. A Netcare 911 paramedic attended the scene of the crime,” he said.

Jackson said it was unclear how the man gained entry on to the property, but the resident’s wife said it was the third time they had been targeted in a week.
