Hawks find R1m worth of ephedrine at OR Tambo airport

The unaccompanied bag had a false tag number.


Members of the Hawks serious’ organised crime unit conducted a disruptive operation at the international departures carousel at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday and made arrests,

Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu, provincial spokesperson for the Hawks, said: “An unaccompanied bag with a false tag number, containing about 20kg of ephedrine with an estimated street value of over R1 million was recovered.”

No arrests have been made yet and police investigations continue.
