Girl, 4, drowns in a swimming pool
The emergency personnel took an hour and a half of failed resuscitation attempts.
Despite one and half hours of CPR a four year old girl was declared dead after she fell into a swimming pool.
According to William Ntladi, spokesperson for Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), a young girl fell into the pool on a Linksfield Road property earlier today, Bedfordview Edenvale News reports.
It is believed she lived on the property with her parents.
“The girl was found face down in the pool by first responders. It was uncertain how long she had been in the pool for,” said Ntladi.
He said when emergency services arrived on scene, CPR was already being conducted by a doctor from the neighbouring property. Ntladi said it took three minutes for emergency services to respond to the scene.
“Despite the extra backup there was no successful resuscitation. The girl was declared dead on the scene,” explained Ntladi.

Chaplain Trevor Olsen, who was also on scene, said 12 paramedics attended to the call.
“All the paramedics did an exceptional job,” said Olsen.
From what Olsen was told, the girl never went near the pool alone.
“It was a freak accident,” said Olsen.
