Girl, 3, ‘molested’ by boy, 4, at Mabopane daycare in PTA

The damage described by the girl’s mother to have been caused by a four-year old boy has been described as improbable.

The Gauteng department of social development is investigating a four-year-old who allegedly molested a three-year-old at a Mabopane daycare, Pretoria Rekord North reports.

“We are still investigating the matter and running assessments,” said departmental spokesperson Mbangwa Xaba.

Xaba said the damage described by the girl’s mother seemed improbable to have been caused by a four-year old boy.

“It doesn’t sound plausible for two reasons: a four-year old is unlikely to have any inclination of penetration and a four-year old boy’s penis would not cause the damage described,” said Xaba.

Xaba reassured the department was not taking the matter lightly.

“The department is extremely worried by this case,” he said.

He added social workers had been dispatched to both children’s homes or further investigation.

“We will be taking both the children for psychosocial therapy and provide them with counselling,” said Xaba.

Xaba also revealed the daycare was not properly registered with the department.

The girl’s mother said she noticed her daughter was in pain, unable to walk straight and clutching her groin area when she fetched her from daycare.

“She was weak and had a temperature‚ so I tried to put her on my back but she screamed in pain and was unable to open her legs. My heart skipped a beat and I immediately rushed her to the clinic,” she said.

She said her worst fears were confirmed when the nurse who examined her daughter told her that she had been brutally molested.
