Gauteng Health warns public of fake job and bursary advertisements

The Gauteng Department of Health has warned the public of fake jobs, internship and bursary adverts targeted at desperate job seekers.

Job scams

According to a statement issued by the department, the latest scam that came to its attention was a suspicious text message inviting victims to an interview at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria.

The department has highlighted that this is not the correct procedure; shortlisted candidates are given a formal invitation in the form of a letter and not through a text message.

“In another fictitious advert which has been circulating nationally on social media platforms unsuspecting people are invited to apply for SA Nurse internships and job opportunity by submitting their details to a bogus online portal,” said the department.

“If you are requested money in exchange for employment, please report the matter to the police. No money is required to apply for jobs and bursaries in the public service.”
