Benoni police spokesperson Captain Nomsa Sekele said a woman and her domestic worker were in the house while two gardeners (one of whom was from a garden service) were outside, Benoni City Times reported.
“One gardener asked the domestic worker to open the main gate,” said Sekele.
“Two people entered the house, overpowered the women and tied them up with cable ties.”
Jewellery and cash were stolen, and the two robbers fled in a red vehicle.
Sekele said police arrested the man from the garden service, who was linked to the crime through messages on his cellphone in which he allegedly planned the robbery.
Police are now searching for the two robbers who fled in the car.
