Gang leader hands himself over to police

A gang leader of one of the gangsters believed to be involved in the Dan Village violence handed himself over to police at Nkowankowa Township in Limpopo.

Meanwhile, the criminal case of the other arrested suspects involved in the gang violence was postponed without bail at the Ritavi Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Letaba Herald reported.

The 18 suspects (15 adults and three juveniles) appeared before the court, and their case was postponed to April 3 for a formal bail application.

SUSPECTS: The suspects of the Dan Village violence case coming out of the police van entering the Ritavi Magistrate Court.

The suspects are accused of brutally killing two people and critically injuring one person in Dan Village in February.

It is believed that the murders are a result of animosity between Bokoharam (from Dan Village) and Masakhinya (from Mokgolobotho Village).

The two deceased have been laid to rest about a month ago.

“Police presence is still maintained in the village, and the entire area is relatively quite,”said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

Ngoepe said investigations are still continuing, and a manhunt for the few remaining suspects is under way.
