Woosnam said a condition called ankylosing spondylitis, which causes inflamation in the spine, makes walking uphill painful so despite his affection for the course he won’t tee it up again.
“Every time I come to the Masters walking up these hills, side slopes and everything it really affects me,” said the 61-year-old from Wales. “It’s a shame because I fell like I’m still playing pretty good, but when you’re walking all the way around here with a bad back, it takes the energy out of you.
“But I enjoyed every single minute of it today and it’s great,” added Woosnam, who finished with a 12-over par total of 156.
“This is the last one. Sad to go,” he said.
