Two fleeing petrol thieves bust

As the petrol attendant was swiping their card, they sped off, leaving the card behind.

Two petrol thieves have been arrested after trying to flee without paying for petrol in Birchleigh North, on the East Rand, on Thursday.

Norkem Park police spokesperson Captain Lesibana Molokomme said the two suspects filled up with petrol valued at R600 at the Engen Garage on the corner of Strydom Street and Pongola River Drive.

As the petrol attendant was swiping their card, they sped off, leaving the card behind, Kempton Express reported.

According to MML Security, they received a panic activation at their control room just after 2am.

Reaction officers gave chase and cornered the suspects in their VW Polo at the intersection of Pongola River and Mooirivier drives.
