Five-year-old boy dies after alleged parental abuse

The boy had cigarette burns on his body.


A five-year-old boy died on his way to hospital after it was alleged he was assaulted by his father at their home on Thursday night in Johannesburg, Alberton Record reports.

A murder docket was opened by Booysens police, and the father was arrested in Chrisville.

A family member was said to have called the police to the scene.

 The boy was unconscious at some point during the night, according to a report from the Glenvista community policing forum (CPF). The CPF said the boy’s aunt rushed him to South Rand Hospital, but he did not survive.

It is also alleged the boy had cigarette burns on his body, but this is still to be confirmed by the hospital.
